      COLOR MATCHING GUIDE
HOW IS COLOR MATCHING DONE FOR TRADITIONAL JOBS?
When color matching on Traditional jobs (paint and vinyl), production can match paint to almost any color desired except for neons and flourescents. The Graphics Department also stocks Gerber vinyl colors (other brands name vinyls can be ordered if they are required for a particular job).

HOW IS COLOR MATCHING DONE FOR DIGITAL JOBS?
Inkjet and Electrostatic printers print in the CMYK mode (Cyan,Magenta,Yellow,Black). This mode is a 4-color process for exceptional color matching. Please provide your files in CMYK mode or use the Pantone Process Matching System color guide. RGB files are usable for inkjet prints, however it is requested that they be converted to CMYK and color corrected prior to being sent to us. Because CMYK and RGB are not equal color modes, theirs will not convert accurately. Please provide a full color positive for close color matching.

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN PMS AND CMYK?
The difference between PMS and CMYK modes is the color white. CMYK does not use white in color matching, where as PMS does use white. Therefore. CMYK colors that require a significant amount of white will not look as brilliant as a painted PMS match and will also be difficult to match. If a PMS color is chosen we will match it as close as possible. PMS (Pantone Matching System) is typically a paint process system. Please remember that when a lighter color is specified, you will see the dots of color more clearly; you will not get a solid tone like you would with paint. For example, if an off-white is needed. What you will get is a series of yellow and magenta dots that, when looked at from a distance, will appear to be off-white.

HOW IS COLOR MATCHING DONE FOR LAMBDA JOBS?
For Lambda prints, please set up all of your graphics using the RGB (red, green, and blue) color mode, as this is what Lambda prints. Any time that a bitmap file is set up using the CMYK color mode or is scanned in as a CMYK image, but is intended to be used for a Lambda print, the file must be converted to RGB. This will cause a color shift within the file that may be very noticeable. Using the RGB color mode when initially creating your graphics will give you a much closer representation of what the final output will look like. For all vector art files, please use the color chart to help you choose the colors for your graphics. This color chart is a guide for matching colors to the Pantone Matching System and will enable you to see what the PMS color will look like when it is printed by the Lambda. Using these colors will also allow you to set up your file so that there will not be any color matching charges. To achieve any of the colors on the chart, set up your files using the specified numbers that correspond to the color you have chosen.

WHAT ARE SOME THING FOR ME TO CONSIDER BEFORE SENDING MY FILES?
• Neither the Digital Inkjet not Lambda processes can replicate colors such as tiourescents. neon, and metallics
• Traditional can replicate both metallics (using either paint or vinyl) and flourescents and neons (using vinyl only)
• It is important to list critical PMS color matches for inkjet prints. If a PMS color is specified. there will be additional color matching charges. For Lambda prints, please specify any color matches by using the color chart as a guide.
• Logos and type should be created in the same program since PMS colors can be different form one program to another (For example: Illustrators PMS 321 will not be the same as Quarks PMS 321).
